Thailand infection numbers reach 3,000; eight new cases discovered

Thailand’s government said on Friday that it had discovered eight new coronavirus infections bringing the total number of infected to 3,000.

There were no new fatalities with the death toll still at 55.

12 more patients have recovered from the virus bringing the total number of discharged patients to 2,784.

Only 161 people remain in hospital.

Of Friday’s new number, five cases were discovered in immigration centres in Songkhla province. Government spokesman Dr Thaweesin Visanuyothin said that these and other cases will be treated on humanitarian grounds.
