Viral video allegedly shows army officer threatening soldier for revealing corruption

A video, which surfaced on Thursday, allegedly showing an army officer being threatened by his superiors for revealing corruption within the military has gone viral with netizens saying it shows the nepotism and corruption rampant in the military.

The sergeant, who is a clerk at the Army Ordnance Department, reported to the Committee on Legal, Justice and Human Rights that he was being harassed by his superiors after making allegations of corruption within the army.

Shortly after the complaint, the video in question surfaced, depicting a superior threatening the sergeant in question.

“I am giving you only one chance and I am unhappy with you because you [shamed] our unit,” said the major in the video.

The major also added that if the sergeant wants to file a complaint regarding his superiors he has to write a report and go through the proper channels within the army.

The major warns that if the report is incorrect, the punishment will be doubled.

Internet users commenting on the video pointed to the lack of transparency within the army and linked the corruption to the Prayut government. Prayut came to power in 2014 after overthrowing a democratically elected government.
