The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) introduced on Wednesday the “We miss the rain” campaign to promote domestic tourism with low-cost carriers and other partners.
The campaign is a part of the government’s 22.4 billion baht budget that was set aside to boost domestic tourism as the Bank of Thailand now expects only 8 million foreign visitors in 2020.
In comparison, there were 39.8 million tourists in 2019.
TAT’s latest campaign aims to promote tourist destinations that are usually popular during the rainy season with low-cost carriers which include Thai Smile Airways, AirAsia, Nok Air and VietJet.
Thai Smile is offering “Rainy Me & My Gang” tickets starting at 1,250 baht for flights to Chiang Mai, Surat Thani, Phuket and Narathiwat.
The tickets will be available for booking between July 1 and July 15 while the flights will be between July 16 and September 15.
AirAsia is offering “เที่ยวเหนือฉ่ำใจ เที่ยวใต้สุดชิล” tickets for a 50 per cent discount on hotels, restaurants and coffee shops in the North and the South of the country.
The promotional period is from June 25 to September 30. The airline is also offering AirAsia Unlimited Pass tickets worth 2,999 baht per ticket.
The ticket can be purchased between June 29 and July 5 and it can be used for any flight and any seat with an unlimited pass between July 20 and December 17.
Nok Air is offering “Go Solo Go Far” tickets. The first 60 passengers on its flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai will get a gift voucher for a free hotel room.
VietJet is offering tickets worth 1,225 baht for flights to Chiang Mai until August 30. They are currently available for booking but the promotion will end on July 25.
Other than low-cost carriers, TAT is also working with other partners such as Trip.com which is offering up to a 50 per cent discount on hotels.
Ride-hailing Grab is offering 60 per cent discounts for Just Grab and grab Car customers with the promotional code TATRAINY.
