Thailand discovers seven new cases of coronavirus in state quarantine on Thursday

Thailand’s government said on Thursday that it had discovered seven cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in state quarantine.

One of the patients is American, while the rest are Thai returnees from UAE (3), Singapore (2), Hong Kong (1) and Egypt (1).    

The new discoveries bring the total number of cases up to 3,389 cases.

There are no new fatalities leaving the death toll at 58.

Nineteen people have recovered in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of discharged patients to 3,218.

Currently, 113 people remain in hospital.

Global Situation

There are now more than 22.5 million confirmed coronavirus cases globally. On Thursday, it was reported that 272,313 cases were found within the past 24 hours.

More than 15.3 million people (67.8 per cent) have recovered from the infection and more than 791,000 (3.5 per cent) have died from the disease.

Currently, there are around 61,700 patients being treated as severe cases.

More than half of the global confirmed cases were found in three countries. There were approximately 5.7 million confirmed cases in the US alone, followed by 3.4 million in Brazil and 2.8 million in India.

India reported 69,196 confirmed cases and 980 deaths on Thursday, followed by Brazil (48,541 / 1,170) and the US (44,957 / 1,263).
