List of activists and students who have been arrested in the past 24 hours.

  1. Anon Numpha: A human rights lawyer and political activist. Anon came from Roi Et and studied law at Ramkhamhaeng University. He became a civilian’s defense lawyer with the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights organization, specializing in helping people who have been convicted of political issues. 

    On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., he was the first to be arrested for sedition, violating the Public Assembly Act, the Sound Amplifier Act, and the Computer Crimes Act for the Harry Potter rally on August 3. Anon had been arrested earlier on August 7 for organizing a pro-democracy protest on July 18 which resulted in a small altercation between the protestors and the police at the Democracy Monument.

    Anon was released on bail but now faces additional charges because of the rally on August 3. Arrest warrants for him and five other protest leaders were also put out on Wednesday morning for organizing the Thammasat rally on August 10 where speakers broached the taboo topic of the monarchy.
  2. Baramee Chaiyarat: A political activist and adviser to the Assembly of the Poor, an NGO that aim to be a political voice for people living in rural areas around the country. Baramee was arrested on Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. for sedition and several other charges related to the pro-democracy protest on July 18.
  3. Suwanna Tarnlek: A labor activist from the ‘June 24 for Democracy Group.’ She was arrested on Wednesday night around 11:45 p.m. and she is now facing similar charges as Baramee.
  4. Korakot Saengyenphan: A political activist from the Democracy Restoration Group, who was arrested around midnight. He is also facing similar charges.
  5. Dechathorn (Hockey) Bamrungmuang: A musician from the Rap Against Dictatorship band who is behind the famous song, ประเทศกูมี. He was arrested on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. He is now under arrest for sedition charges and joining and performing at the recent anti-government rallies.
  6. Totsaporn Sinsoombun: A university student and one of the leaders of the Free Youth Movement. He was arrested on Thursday morning at 9:45 a.m. He faces sedition and several other charges related to the pro-democracy protest on July 18.
  7. Thanee Sasom: A university student and one of the leaders of the Free Youth Movement. He was arrested on Thursday morning and now faces similar charges related to the pro-democracy protest on July 18.
  8. Nattawut Somboonsap: A university student and one of the leaders of the Free Youth Movement. He was arrested on Thursday morning and faces sedition and several other charges related to the pro-democracy protest on July 18.
  9. Thanayut Na Ayuthaya: A musician from Eleven Finger rap group, aged 19. He was arrested on Thursday afternoon for joining and performing at the pro-democracy protest on July 18.  

These nine names were among the list of 31 people the police were allegedly seeking to arrest for speaking and performing at a protest sponsored by the Free Youth Movement on July 18.
