[UPDATE-1] Thailand discovers 22 new cases of coronavirus in on Monday; global death toll now over 1 million

Thailand’s government said on Tuesday that it had discovered 22 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in state quarantine.

The patients are from South Sudan (14), India (4), Pakistan (1) and The Philippines (1).  

The new discoveries bring the total number of cases up to 3,545 cases.

There are no new fatalities leaving the death toll at 59.

Two more people have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of discharged patients to 3,369.

Currently, 117 people remain in hospital.

Global outlook

There are now more than 33.3 million confirmed coronavirus cases globally with over 7.6 million active cases.

The death toll has officially exceeded 1 million coronavirus deaths.

Approximately 24.6 million people (96 per cent) have recovered from the infection.

There are over 7.3 million confirmed cases in the US alone with more than 209, 000 deaths.

This is followed by India, with the total number of confirmed cases at 6 million and death toll at 95,574; and then Brazil, with the total number of confirmed cases at approximately 6 million with over 141,000 deaths.
