Three senior police officials relieved of their duties for allowing convoy confrontation

Three senior high-ranking police officers who were in charge of Wednesday’s protests have now been relieved of their duties by the Police Chief, with immediate effect on Thursday, officials documents said.

The three officers, Police Major General Somprasong Yentuam, Police Major General Prasai Jittasonthi and Police Major General Manop Sukontonnaphat have been relieved of their duties and transferred to inactive posts effectively immediately.

The three men were in charge of protests on Wednesday which saw an incident involving protesters and a royal motorcade for HM the Queen. The protesters blocked off part of the road and heckled the motorcade prompting a government crackdown and an imposition of a state of emergency.
