Thailand discovers seven new cases of coronavirus in state quarantine on Monday

Thailand’s government said on Monday that it had discovered seven cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in state and alternate state quarantine.

The patients are six Thai returnees and a 17-year-old Syrian student who travelled from Lebanon. 

The new discovery brings the total number of cases up to 3,920.

There are no new fatalities leaving the death toll at 60.

Five people have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of discharged patients to 3,766.

Currently, 94 people remain in hospital.

Global Situation

There are now more than 58.9 million confirmed coronavirus cases globally. On Monday, it was reported that 489,012 cases were found within the past 24 hours.

About 40.7 million people (69.1 per cent) have recovered from the disease and nearly 1.4 million (2.4 per cent) have died from it.

Currently, there are around 103,000 patients being treated as severe cases.

More than 12.5 million of the confirmed cases were found in the US alone with more than 262,000 deaths, followed by India (9.1 million / 133,000) and Brazil (6 million / 169,000).

Apart from the three countries, eight other countries have surpassed the one million mark – including France (2.1), Russia (2), Spain (1.5), UK (1.5), Italy (1.4), Argentina (1.3), Colombia (1.2) and Mexico (1).  

The US has recorded 136,627 confirmed cases with 866 deaths on Monday followed by India (44,404 / 510) and Italy (28,337 / 562).
