YouTube has geo-blocked, blocking access to a video from a specific location, a music video by a Thai rap group that criticized the current government, the group said on Monday.
According to Rap Against Dictatorship (RAD) the Thai government has asked YouTube to block its new single, “Reform” from being viewed in Thailand.
RAD, a local rap group, who also made “ประเทศกูมี” or “My Country Has”, said the government is providing a New Year gift to the group by banning its single “ปฏิรูป” or “Reform” from the online platform.
The group is famous for its critical lyrics of contemporary politics and its criticism of current prime minister Prayut Chan-ocha who led a military coup in 2014.
The music video received more than 9.7 million views before it was geoblocked.
My Country Has, the group’s more famous single from 2018, is still available on You Tube with more than 95.4 million views so far.
