Three new clusters found in Bangkok

Bangkok reported three new clusters in the previous 24 hours, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Friday.

The new clusters are a worker camp in Lak Si (59 cases), a garment factory in Phasi Charoen (37 cases) and La Lai Sap Market in Silom Soi 5 (20 cases).

“Of the 20 cases that were found at the market, 13 are vendor owners and the remaining seven are their family members,” said Dr Apisamai Srirangsan, the CCSA’s deputy spokeswoman.

Local news reported that the market was open Friday and that pro-active tests were still being conducted on-site.

The latest three brought the number of active cases in the capital to 61. The city has seen a total of 78 clusters since the third wave began, including a further 12 that have not reported any case in the past 14 days, and five with none for 28 days.

The 61 active clusters include 18 in worker camps, 15 around markets and shopping centres, 14 at businesses and factories, 12 in residential areas, one at care homes and one at an embassy.
