Southern provinces warned of possible flash flooding, small boats advised to stay in harbour

Southern provinces were warned on Thursday of possible flash floods with more rainfall expected through the weekend.

A high-pressure system from China is the cause behind the wave of warnings, the Thai Meteorological Department said.

Cool weather with strong winds is also likely to result in a decrease in temperatures throughout the country by one to three degrees Celsius.

The Thai Meteorological Department forecasted heavy rains in the Gulf and the South of Thailand between October 11 to October 13.

Strong winds could see waves up to 2-3 meters high in the Gulf and 1-2 meters high in the Andaman Sea.

People in the south are warned to beware of possible flash floods and overflows.

Residents are advised to proceed with caution and watch for possible inshore surges. Small boats should remain ashore.

The pressure will also cause the temperature to drop in the North, the Northeastern, the Central including Bangkok and its surrounding areas.
