Thai citizens no longer required to register for Thailand Pass beginning in June

Thai citizens returning to Thailand will be able to forego the prerequisite travel registration known as ”Thailand Pass” starting in June, the government decided on Friday.

Also starting in June, entertainment venues will be allowed to fully reopen in Green and Blue zones, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said.

Thailand Pass

Thai citizens will no longer be require to register with Thailand Pass before entering Thailand.

Foreigners will still be required to register with the system to provide proof of vaccination or negative Covid test status and a minimum health insurance coverage of US$10,000 (for people with no work permit or residency).

The system will no longer require a waiting period as a QR code will be provided after the registration is successfully completed, the CCSA said.

Reopening entertainment venues

“Businesses that follow regulations will be allowed to reopen…but if they failed to follow regulations, local authorities can still shut them down,” said Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, the spokesman of CCSA.

New zoning will come into effect on June 1 include 46 “highly monitored” provinces in the “Yellow Zone”, 17 tourism promotion provinces in the “Blue Zone” and 14 “monitored” provinces in the “Green Zone.”

The 17 provinces in the Blue Zone include Bangkok, Krabi, Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, Chonburi, Chaing Rai, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nonthaburi, Narathiwat, Pathumthani, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phang Nga, Phetchaburi, Phuket, Rayong and Songkhla.

The 14 provinces in the Green Zone include Chai Nat, Trat, Nakhon Phanom, Nan, Buriram, Phichit, Ang Thong, Maha Sarakham, Yasothorn, Lampang, Surat Thani, Surin, Udon Thani and Amnat Charoen.

Yellow Zone

In the Yellow Zone, only restaurants and entertainment venues that have transformed into restaurants under SHA+ or Thai Stop Covid 2 Plus regulations and gained approval from local health authorities can serve alcohol until midnight.

No event will be allowed to take place with more than 1,000 participants.

Indoor sports competitions cannot have more than 75 per cent of the audience capacity.

All theaters will be allowed to open normally.

Green and Blue

In the Green and Blue Zone, all licensed restaurants and registered entertainment venues that gained approval from local health authorities will be allowed to fully open and serve alcohol until midnight.

However, there are still restrictions on activities for entertainment venues such as pubs, bars and karaoke lounges including:

  • All employees and performers must be vaccinated with three doses of Covid vaccines and tested with ATK every seven days
  • All customers must show proof that they have received three doses
  • An indoor venue must be properly ventilated
  • Tables must be at least one meter apart
  • No shared glass
  • No alcohol promotion campaign
  • Close contact services will require facemask

Events can have more than 1,000 participants.

Indoor sports competitions can be conducted normally.

All theaters will be allowed to open normally.
