A former senior government official, on Thursday, blasted the information operation (IO) campaign that targets dissidents and activists and said that it is failing in its attempts to discredit the new Bangkok governor.
“They have built a huge IO network but it is brainless,” said Paisal Puechmongkol, a former aid to Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan.
Paisal wrote on his Facebook page that government-hired trolls are trying to posit that Chadchart Sittipunt, the new Bangkok governor, was taking credit for work done by previous governor, Aswin Kwanmuang.
Paisal added that such rhetoric was not working because everyone can see through the lies.
“This is purely their own imagination,” he said.
He said the IO’s attempt to say that Chadchart is an actor who is only looking to create positive image for himself also backfired.
“This is like hitting yourself in the head, the government has more power, bigger budget and more work, if they really have many accomplishments, people would naturally praise them but if there is a lack of results, people will criticize them like what we can see today,” he said.
Paisal pointed out to what happened to the official Facebook page of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha on Tuesday when it was flooded with negative comments from netizens after they noticed that one photo was open for commenting.
“In a couple of hours, more than 50,000 people came in to criticize him,” Paisal said.
“Not only that, the IO did not look at the content before advertising the 50,000 comments which caused even more embarrassment,” he said.
