The opposition Move Forward Party (MFP) said they have 10 MP candidate seats left to fill ahead of the next general election.
The government is expected to dissolve the parliament next week, before its term ends on March 23.
MFP leader Pita Limjaroenrat said at the party’s meeting on Wednesday that the party aims for more than 81 parliamentary seats that were won by its predecessor, the now-defunct Future Forward Party (FFP).
The FFP won 31 constituency MP seats and received 50 party-list MPs following the 2019 election, thanks to young voters and the previous electoral rules.
The new rules will now be based on a two-ballot system with 400 constituency MP seats and 100 list-MP seats and a list-MP calculation method that will benefit large parties more than small parties.
This also means that middle-sized parties like MFP will most likely get fewer list-MP seats when compared to the previous election as well.
