Photo Essay: PPRP’s new economic team

The ruling pro-military Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) announced new members for its economic team.

The team is currently being led by the former leader of the New Economics Party Mingkwan Sangsuwan who switched from being an opposition of the military-backed government to joining the PPRP and former energy minister Sontirat Sontijirawong who returned from the Sang Anakot Thai Party.

The new members of the team include former finance minister Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala who was a minister under the Yingluck Shinawatra administration and Kornkasiwat Kasemsri, a former director of the Energy and Resources Policy Research Center at Rangsit University.

PPRP leader Prawit Wongsuwon said he was happy that the two have joined the team and denied that the party was trying to outshine any party with their latest unveiling.

The PPRP’s announcement of its new team came less than two weeks after the main opposition Pheu Thai Party announced its new team which consist of former deputy prime minister Prommin Lertsuridej, property tycoon Srettha Thavisin and former finance minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong.

Prawit also denied that his party is looking to form an electoral alliance with the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) ahead of the next general election which is slated for May after Prawit was photographed with BJT leader Anutin Charnvirakul and suspended transport minister Saksayam Chidchob at Prawit’s Five Provinces Bordering Forest Preservation Foundation.
