Stand up comedy festival on April 8

The Thai stand-up comedy community is growing.

In the latest development, the curtain is opening for the first major English stand-up show by Thai comedians.

Yuen Deaw (ยืนเดี่ยว), a Thai stand-up community hub, hosted a total of 15 shows over the past four years and this one will be their 16th and this time, they are aiming higher.

Kaneenut “Gap” Ruengrujira and Katanyu “Yu” Swangsri, the founders of Yuen Deaw other comedians wanted to elevate the Thai stand-up community to the international level which led to this show.

“Welcome to Thailand” will be performed by six comedians. Over the past years, the average audience at their weekly club was around 30-40 people per show.

A bigger event in Thai could bring in around 100-300 people. The aim of the upcoming English show is around 120-150 people.

Christopher Wright, the host of “Chris Delivery” and “Chris Unseen,” will set the scene for Nho Nonthaburian, Natty Warisa, Tanawut “Tana” Sukke, Mo “Tangmo” Rodvanich and Yodyiam “YorYor” Yingyuenyong.

The performers will present various styles of comedy, including observational, anecdotal, and personal experience storytelling.

The show will be at Slowcombo in Samyan, Bangkok, on April 8.

The entry price is “555” which is a play-on word as the number five is pronounced as “Ha” in Thai, so 555 is hahaha.
