The Environmental Justice Foundation, in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), has spearheaded a pioneering initiative to combat Bangkok’s plastic waste crisis. Entitled “Bottle Free Seas,” this campaign is a proactive step towards reducing the staggering 70 million plastic bottles discarded monthly in the city.

The campaign sees the strategic placement of a complimentary drinking water dispenser with partner organizations like Central Pattana. This move is a part of a broader plan to install a series of such dispensers across the city, promoting the use of refillable containers among Bangkok residents.

Chadchart Sittipunt, the BMA governor, marked the launch of this environmentally conscious project by filling his thermos at the newly installed dispenser. This gesture underscores the commitment of the BMA and its partners to fostering a sustainable ecosystem and advancing Thailand’s ambitious goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

The “Bottle Free Seas” initiative is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various entities in addressing environmental issues and is a significant step towards a more sustainable future.
