Biden drops out

Washington DC, July 22 – United States President Joe Biden was forced by his party to drop out of the presidential race early Monday as questioned mounted over his age and ability to govern.

Taking to X (formerly called Twitter), Biden said he had “decided not to accept the nomination” and put forward Vice President Kamala Harris to be the new Democrat nomination for president.

It is unclear whether Biden himself or his team tweeted. The president has not been seen since his team announced that he had been taken ill with Covid.

Whether or not the voting Democrat Party members accept the nomination of Kamala Harris remains to be seen. On Monday, senior party leaders rushed forward to endorse Harris despite no input from primary voters. With four months to go until elections, the gamble to drop Biden is an especially risky one with Republican challenger Donald Trump gaining in polls.
