A drive to have a more sustainable environment needs the support from all sectors of the society with the government being one of the main ones to set the policies to set the directions for the country while the public in general that takes the lead.
Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Chief Executive Officer of Bangchak Group and Managing Director of Bangchak Corporation Plc (BCP), during a seminar yesterday came out to mention that the challenge of creating a sustainable future requires cooperation from all sectors, including the government, businesses and the public.
He said that although the government was the one that sets the direction, it is the public sector, which can play an important role in the change through responsible consumption and support for environmentally friendly products, which will be the driving force for the government and businesses to fully implement, creating a culture that cares about the environment sustainably.
Chaiwat was speaking at the event organized by the Thai Management Association (TMA) which was celebrating its 60th anniversary, said that the business sector must integrate ESG principles into business strategies, invest in green innovations, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create cross-sector collaboration.
He said importantly, it requires a balanced approach that combines organizational growth with environmental responsibility. Meanwhile, the government sector is responsible for setting the direction and infrastructure, including measures that create incentives and operational frameworks that support organizations and individuals in driving towards sustainability.
TMA’s seminar “60 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE” was organized under the concept of “creating great leaders, designing the future” on the topic of “A Conversation on the Sustainable Future” with Thammasak Sethaudom, President & CEO Siam Cement Plc (SCC) and Helene Budliger Artieda, State Secretary for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation.
Chaiwat mentioned the challenge of creating a sustainable future that requires cooperation from all sectors, including the government, businesses and the public, especially the public sector, which can play an important role in the change through responsible consumption and support for environmentally friendly products. This will be a driving force for the government and businesses to fully implement their work and create a culture that cares about the environment sustainably.
At the event, Bangchak presented an exhibition booth to present green innovations of the Bangchak Group in driving sustainable business development and creating an ecosystem towards a low-carbon society, such as pioneering the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and the Carbon Markets Club, the first green house club in Thailand to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to support carbon credit trading and enhance knowledge and understanding about the climate crisis.
