Thai Enquirer spoke with Airports of Thailand (AOT) President Kerati Kijmanawat in a two-part interview on efforts to make airports more sustainable, focusing on carbon reduction and biometric technology for seamless travel.
In this second installment, we explore how Thailand’s leading airport operator is enhancing efficiency and reducing waiting times.
As part of its goal to enhance passenger experience, AOT has introduced self-check-in kiosks, self-bag drop kiosks, and biometric immigration processing. These changes have led to a reduction in average immigration processing times from 30 minutes to around 4 minutes.
AOT plans to extend these services to all six of its airports by the end of the year, aiming to provide consistent service across its facilities. Additionally, the organization is introducing 24-hour check-in services to accommodate early arrivals, allowing passengers to check in and proceed through security before counters officially open.
In line with these efforts, AOT is working with regulatory authorities to ensure the secure handling of passenger data. The company is also exploring the implementation of automated immigration gates for arriving passengers, with plans to introduce an advanced passenger information system to streamline the entry process.
