Up to nine former Future Forward MPs may cross the aisle and join the coalition government prompting the defunct party’s leader to question their motives publicly.
Local media reported that the 9 former members of the disbanded Future Forward party, which was dissolved on Friday by the Constitutional Court, had stopped sitting with the other former members of the party and had crossed to sit in the Bhumjaithai section of parliament.
Bhumjaithai members have said privately that they were confident they would be able to add to their numbers with backbenchers from Future Forward.
The rumours prompted former party Secretary-General Piyabutr Saengkanokkul to question their motives.
“I really don’t understand those defectors mindsets. Have they not heard the concerns of the people, the students, the new generations that voted for Future Forward,” he questioned.

The defections occurred after former Future Forward MP Bencha Saengchantra revealed at a press conference that ‘senior politicians’ from Bhumjaithai had offered her over 20 million baht to join their party.
Bencha played an audio clip which purportedly showed a man offering her incentives to defect.

Bencha said that she was also offered a frontbench position if she could convince other MPs to defect and join the coalition government as well.
